First off, for those who are wondering what Nicole is pointing to in the previous pictures, that is the site where the Olympic torch is lit at the beginning of every Olympic torch run to this day. Yes, we also thought it would be a bit of a bigger deal, but it's really just some grass and a pile of rocks.
Speaking of piles of rocks, rocks and rubble are pretty much what we've been looking at for the last week. The Acropolis in Athens, the cities of Mycenae, Olympia, and Delphi are all very well known piles of rubble. The history behind these cities is amazing and we're so lucky to have visited.
We left Delphi yesterday morning and headed back to Athens. On Monday we had tried to visit the Bodies in Motion exhibit (the real life dead bodies on display) that is currently in Athens. Unfortunately it was closed that day, so we went yesterday. Afterwards we caved and went to the Hard Rock Cafe. I'm not the biggest fan of Greek food and Nicole is kinda tired of it as well, so we had a delicious plate of nachos! They tasted sooooo amazing. The funnest part was walking through the tavernas afterwards and telling the Greeks we had just eaten at the Hard Rock. I think they were a little insulted. The same way the Turks tried to get us to buy stuff, the Greeks try to get us to eat in the restaurants. It's really annoying.
So today is our last day before traveling home. We didn't have to set an alarm clock and have spent a leisurely day walking around and hanging out on the rooftop deck of our hotel. We'll head out this evening for our last wander of the city. It will be an early night as we prepare for about 24 hours worth of traveling. We'll update everyone during our 5 hour layover in Munich, Germany.

Thanks ladies! The pics of Greece were cool...although I think the piles of rubble probably have more of a "wow" effect in person.
ReplyDeleteI wish you both a safe trip home! Nicole...take good care of your camera!
